Since 2019

 Meet Eddie Phillips

The story

Eddie has always been a maker, a builder, a repairer. Educated as a mechanical engineer, with a minor in product design he has always enjoyed a hands-on life style.

In 2019 he restarted his woodworking and furniture making as a creative outlet. Like many others the pandemic afforded him time to focus on this passion.

In 2022 after developing a successful brand and a growing customer base he took the decision to leave the corporate world and focus on woodworking full time. In the spring of 2023 he attended the 12 week furniture intensive class at the center for furniture craftsmanship.

Boom Island Woodworking is named after Eddie’s favorite Minneapolis park close to where he resides. His workshop is located in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District at the Q.arma Building.

His PHILOSOPHY

Eddie’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the appreciation for quality and the pursuit of excellence. As a craftsman he embodies a profound dedication to his work, valuing the mastery of skills and the creation of objects that carry a timeless beauty. This philosophy is built upon a commitment to craftsmanship that goes beyond simply creating functional pieces, but also extends to nurturing a profound connection with the materials and the process of creation. For Eddie, every piece becomes a reflection of his passion, integrity, and attention to detail, as he strives to instill a sense of artistry and uniqueness in each creation. Tapping into his innate creativity and embracing the philosophy of authenticity, he seeks to not only fulfill a utilitarian need but also to inspire and evoke emotion in those who encounter his work.
